Triangle theory: m_j = (Q_jt* − Vε)/(V(1−ε)). Complete-separation boundaries from the ω-quadratic and Table 2 of Rajendran, Paredes & Mazzotti, J. Chromatogr. A 1216 (2009) 709; reduced-purity pentagon (linear, restrictive case) from Rajendran, J. Chromatogr. A 1185 (2008) 216. Open loop: sections 1→4 hydraulically in series, outlet at ambient; Blake–Kozeny sets t*_min at ΔP_max. Equilibrium theory neglects dispersion and mass-transfer resistance — keep a safety margin (β) in practice.
